Vernon Ray McIntosh, 88, of Midland, passed away unexpectedly June 23, 2015, at his daughter's home in Rockford. Vernon was born April 5, 1927, to Ray and Beryl (Dunning) McIntosh. On June 27, 1953 he married Lydia E. Ziemer, who preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2003.
Vernon served during WWII in the United States Navy. Vernon worked for The Dow Corning Corp. for 27 years, and was part of the Midland Township Fire Department for 25 years. He coached baseball and played softball for many years.

He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, MSU basketball and doing puzzles. For Vernon, family always came first and he loved his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Vernon is survived by his children, Roger (Beth) McIntosh, Richard (Christi) McIntosh, Denise (Paul) Williams, Lois (Ritch) Cushway and Brenda (Brian) Hayes, 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Leonard, Jim and Tom McIntosh; and sisters, Ella Doyle, Sue Robbins, Carol Gower and Marsha McIntosh.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with The Rev. Daniel Kempin officiating. Visitation will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 4-7 p.m., and on Saturday, at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
