Albert H. Debacker Sr., 83, Topeka, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at Colmery O'Neil Hospital. He was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Arthur A & Rosalia Csitkovits Debacker

Mr. Debacker was a printer for Stauffer Publications for many years before he retired in 1982. He attended Clarks School of Business. Mr. Debacker was a P-51 fighter pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an MIA on Aug. 1, 1944. Mr. Debacker was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 534, Air Force Escape & Evasion Society, Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion, and Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the VFW.

He married Elizabeth L. "Betty" Sommers on Oct. 9, 1943, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include six sons, Albert H. Debacker Jr., Topeka, James R. Debacker, Meriden, Gerald D. Debacker, Overbook, Kevin G. Debacker, Pauline, Charles D. Debacker, Topeka, and Daniel J. Debacker, Topeka; one daughter, Kathleen Ann Rohr, Auburn; two sisters, Teresa I. Debacker, Topeka, and Esther D. Coe, Topeka; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mr. Debacker donated his body to The University of Kansas Hospital. Memorial contributions may be given to Assumption Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home.
