She was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 12, 1925 the daughter of Ralph and Mary Burghart Sommers. Betty was a graduate of Hayden High School in 1942.
She was a member of Mater Dei Assumption Parish and helped prepare funeral dinners for many years. Betty was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 where she held many offices and was a Past Regent. She also held many state offices in the Daughters of Isabella. Betty was active in helping with the St. Patrick's Day activities.
Betty married Albert H. Debacker Sr. in Topeka, Kansas on October 9, 1943. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2004.
She is survived by: Six sons, Albert H. Debacker Jr. of Topeka, James R. Debacker and wife Paula of Meriden, Gerald D. Debacker and wife Wendy of Overbrook, Kevin G. Debacker and wife Janine of Pauline, Charles D. Debacker of Topeka, Daniel J. Debacker and wife Carol of Topeka, daughter Kathleen Ann Rohr and husband Gerald of Auburn, two sisters, Mildred Crownover of Miami, FL., and Bridgett Foster and husband Byron of Topeka, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Betty will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Assumption Church.
Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
