James Bird 29 born Pendleton
Andrew Bird 23 born Pendleton
Jacob Bird 12 born Pendleton
Elizabeth Bird 79 born Maryland

John Bird mother was Katherine, Eve, or Elizabeth Hardway (Hardweg). I have been told Katherine is his mother and his father was John. I have no documentation for any of this. There is a will for George Hardway and Susanna Hardway in which he is identified. He was the executor for Susanna and that data is on file in Highland County I believe. My source is professional genealogist Ron V. Hardway. I only point out that Eve and Elizabeth are known from the wills but no real information about them has been found.

John's mother is reported to be Katherine Hardway by Ronald V Hardway. What can be proven is that John Bird was the grandson of Susanna Hardway (see her will at Highland County record book #4 page 69). The 1850 Census shows an Elizabeth Bird born in MD age 79 living with John. Susanna and her husband George lived in MD and can be found in 1790 Census for Frederick County. They had 5 daughters 1. Katherine; 2. Susanna; 3. Sarah; 4. Eva; & 5. Elizabeth. Susanna died after giving birth to three children last name Koone (see George's Will). Sarah married Issac Beale (see VA Marriages 1740-1850). No recorded husband for Katherine, Eva or Elizabeth. Ron assumed since Eva and Elizabeth never got married (no marriage records found) that Katherine was John's mother. So his mother is either Katherine or possible Elizabeth.
