From the Bird Family Bible:
Jacob Bird the youngest son of John Bird of Highland County. Died near Mount Meridian in Augusta County, Virginia about 7 o'clock on the Sabbath morning June 15, 1862. His disease was thought to be Apoplexy. He died near camp, being a volunteer in Company E, Capt. Gilmore's of the 31st Regiment of Virginia Vol. in the service of the Confederate States.

Jacob Bird died at Mount Meridian of apoplexy. Age 24 years, 6 months, 26 days. Parents J. & M. Bird. Born Pendleton County, Va. Single. Death reported by Jno. Bird, father.
