Jacob Bird the youngest son of John Bird of Highland County. Died near Mount Meridian in Augusta County, Virginia about 7 o'clock on the Sabbath morning June 15, 1862. His disease was thought to be Apoplexy. He died near camp, being a volunteer in Company E, Capt. Gilmore's of the 31st Regiment of Virginia Vol. in the service of the Confederate States.
