In 1910 he and his parents and two siblings lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Jackson Township, Greene County, IN.

In 1920 he and his parents and six siblings lived there.

In 1940 he and his wife and their four children lived in a house they owned at 6621 West 28th Avenue in Gary, IN. Their home was valued at $1200. He worked as a crane operator in a sheet and tube mill, with an income in 1939 of $1638 for 52 weeks of work.

Quince ASHCRAFT, a resident of Sullivan, Route 3, died en route to Freeman Greene County Hospital at 9:30 a.m. today.

Born February 17, 1904 in Jackson Township, {Greene County,} he was the son of Jesse H. and Freda (ROBERTS) ASHCRAFT.

Surviving are the widow, Winnie ASHCRAFT, and children, Robert and Tommy W., Mrs. Lorene BALLAS, all of Cedar Lake, Indiana, Raymond E. and Mrs. Dorothy BALLAS, both of Crown Point; brothers, Wilford and Daniel, both of Owensburg, Wayne of Griffith, Indiana, Jesse of Highland; sisters, Mrs. Anna TRUEBLOOD, of Bloomfield, Mrs. Mae CARTER, of Owensburg, Mrs. Wyona ERNSBUGER, of Shelby, Ohio, Mrs. Bernice FINES, of Hammond, and Mrs. Lucille WADE, of Middleton, Colorado.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
