Little Rose Ann, ten-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Quince ASHCRAFT, was born June 17, 1834, in Whiting, {Lake County,} Indiana. Little Rose contracted whooping cough which developed into pneumonia, and being too young and frail to combat the disease, she passed away April 17, 1935, and her sweet little spirit was wafted away by the guarding angel and tenderly laid in the arms of Jesus, who said “Suffer the little children to come unto me.
It is sad to give up our loved ones, and while this young father and mother are sorely pressed in grief they weep not as those who have no hope, and those who visit this little grassy mound, whether strangers or sympathizing friends, know somebody’s hope lies buried there, for it is the grave of a little child. God comforts us through our friends; we believe time is a power that can soothe and sustain these sorrowing ones and bring comfort o their hearts, and finally the mists will clear away and then we will all understand that death is only a sleep in which this mortal will take on immortality.
Little Rose leaves to mourn her passing the father and mother, one sister, Lorene; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles REED, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse ASHCRAFT, three great grandfathers, Amos ASHCRAFT, Chris ASHCRAFT and Simon REED, and one great-grandmother, Mrs. Malissa ROBERTS, and many other near relatives and friends.
