"Oye H. Bowland came to this community from Savannah, MO. He married Miss Elsie Prussman in 1909 and they lived on the Bethel Goodpasture farm for one year and then moved to the Don Williamson farm. In 1919 they moved to the Prusman home place where they still make their home (1955). Mr. Bowland has added a number of acres to the original farm. Mr. Bowland has been an active member of the community and served for a number of years on the Squaw Creek school board, where the nine children all attended school. Six graduated from Maitland High School. Mrs. Bowland is a member of the M.E. Church at Maitland.
The children are presently located (1955) as follows:
Alice, (Mrs. Olen Ceradsky) lives in Sedro Wooley, Wash.; Lee lives in Minneapolis, MN; Lorene (Mrs. Howard Davidson) lives at Tarkio, MO; Maurice lives northwest of Mound City; Donna Mae (Mrs. Darrell Heck) lives in the Franklin district west of Maitland; Glenn lives north and west of Maitland; Kenneth is in the U.S. Navy stationed in Alaska; Lynn lives with his parents. There are 11 grandchildren."
