Josie A. Bussell, daughter of Merritt T. and Susan Bowland, was born near Savannah, Mo., December 27, 1860 and died at Bay City, Texas, Nov. 24, 1938. She was lent an orphan at the age of five and was raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Mary Brock. She was educated is (sic) the Missouri public schools and taught in them for several years.

She married W.W. Bussell on Jan. 15, 1890. They made their home at Alexandria, Nebr., for about one year, after which they moved to Hebron, where their two children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Bussell came to Palacios, Texas, in 1911 where their union was broken by the death of Mr. Bussell June 18, 1931.

Since coming to Palacios, Mrs. Bussell has made many friends whose love and kindness she greatly appreciated. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star for many years.

She is survived by daughter, Alpha Bussell, Palico (sic), Texas; a son, Ralph W. Bussell, Bay City, Texas, a sister, Mrs. Mary Albright, Roosevelt, Okla., a brother, John Bowland, Barnard, Mo. and three grandchildren, also the surviving children of Mr. Bussell, Mrs. Anna Apley, Hebron, Nebr., Edgar L. Bussell, Belvidere, Nebr. and Mrs. A.G. Wright, Dallas, Texas.

She leave to mourn her death five children, twelve grandchildren and three great great (sic) grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Palacios, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26 and the body was brought to Hebron to the W.G. Apley home and services were held Monday Nov. 28, 1938 at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. E.E. Carter, DeWitt, Nebr., assisted by Rev. Kelly of Hebron and interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The body was accompanied to Hebron by Ralph Bussell of Bay Center (sic), Phylis Bussell of Palacios and Mrs. A.G. Wright of Dallas.

Spaulding all from Alexandria.
