Born September 28, 1922 to Joseph Monroe Herin and Mattie Lou Lowry Herin in Greenwood, S.C.
Graduated from Greenwood High School and worked for Greenwood Telephone Company for 12 years. She then moved to Columbia, S.C. to accept a Civil Service job, employed with Colonial Stores for 5 years and retired from Petroleum Equipment Co. Inc. in Columbia after 13 loyal years, then moved to Greenville, S.C.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Alfred C. Murdock; a step-daughter, Beverly Johnson; two brothers, Roscoe A. Herin and Jesse C. Herin; a granddaughter, Kelly Lorraine Cobb; Mrs. Murdock is survived by her daughter, Anna Kathryn "Kitty" Michaelson (Dick) of Jacksonville, FL; step-daughter, Kimberly Pitts (Kim) of Seneca, S.C.; stepson, Thomas Allen Murdock (Gretchen) of Simpsonville, S.C.; sister, Lois H. Bowie of Columbia, S.C.; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 nephew and 4 nieces.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Fiedlis Sunday School Class in Greenville, S.C.
A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 in the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, 639 N. Main Street, Greenville, S.C. with The Rev. Gerald Walston of Jacksonville, FL. officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to, Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
