CURWENSVILLE - Mrs. Esther Rose Grimes, 56, of Curwensville R.D. died today, Dec. 20, at b6:30 a.m. in the Clearfield Hospital.
She was born in Pike Township Dec. 28, 1919, the daughter of Frederick L. and Anna (Norris) Bloom. She had also lived in Ohio for 27 years and Pittsburgh for 12 years.
She was a member of the Holiday Park United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh; president and treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 699 in Leavittsburg, Ohio; La Secretaire of Trumble Co. 8-40 Unit; past president and treasurer of the Garden City Garden Club in Pittsburgh; a delegate and alternate to the United Methodist Western Conference; and she conducted the Junior Church of Holiday Park. She was very active in welfare and social work.
She is survived by her parents; her husband Clair A. Grimes and two sons: Clair Allen Grimes of Warren, Ohio, and Sgt. Gordon W. Grimes, Camp LeJeune, N.C. She is also survived by three brothers: Ai Samuel Bloom, Curwensville R.D.; Frederick J. Bloom, Warren, Ohio; and Donald W. Bloom, Anchorage, Alaska; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held from the Russell H. Lininger Funeral Home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Hess officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the hour of services Thursday.
