CURWENSVILLE - Fred John Bloom, 81, of Curwensville, died Thursday, October 28, 1923, in Curwensville, he was a son of Frederick L. and Anna (Norris) Bloom.
He was a member of the Curwensville Moose, Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 845 and Curwensville American Legion Post No. 505.
He served in the Navy in World War II.
Mr. Bloom retired from American Welding in Warren, Ohio after 30 years of service.
On Dec. 18, 1942, in Curwensville, he wed Genevieve L. Bloom, who survives along with four children, Carol Anne Smith and her husband, Gary, of Warren, Ohio, Benjamin L. Bloom and his wife, Bonnie, of Curwensville and Thomas C. Bloom of Warren, Ohio; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, A. I. Bud Bloom of Curwensville.
Mr. Bloom was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Bloom; and a sister, Esther Grimes.
Friends will be received at Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc., Curwensville, Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Rescue Hose and Ladder Company Ambulance Association.
