Glenice Virginia (Hayslip) Holmes, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at Windsor House West.

Born January 13, 1920, in Wadley, GA, she was the daughter of the late Otha and Frances (Flake) Hayslip and the wife of the late Charles Eldridge Holmes, Sr.

A graduate of Statesboro (GA) High School, she retired from Bell South, was a member of the Pioneers Club and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Overtones Choir and Circle #1.

Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Holmes, Jr. of Alexandria, VA, David E. Holmes of Waterloo, SC, and Robin M. Holmes of Spartanburg; a brother, Clifford Hayslip of Spartanburg; two sisters, Martha Bolus of Charleston, SC, and Frances Sperry of New Orleans, LA; six grandchildren, David E. Holmes, Jr., Jeffrey Stuart Holmes, Matthew C. Holmes, Mary Elizabeth Holmes, Allen Steven Holmes, and Kelly Ann Holmes; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Glenn Flake Holmes.

Visitation was 10:00-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Bethel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services followed at 11:00 a.m. at the Church, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence F. Hays, Jr. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Endowment Fund at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
