Peter Hoberg, son of Jorgen Neilson Hoberg and Margrete Swanson Hoberg, was born on June 20, 1886 at Sabula, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church. The family moved to a farm southeast of Lake Benton, Lincoln County, MN, when he was 6 years old. He received his schooling there and also went to the Agricultural College at the University of S.D., Brookings, S.D.

In March of 1907 he went to the Dagmar Montana region to buy land and to homestead. He built a house and all the other buildings himself. Then he came back to Lake Benton where he was married to Rosa Schultz on January 16, 1912. While they lived at the homestead, they kept horses and cows and grew oats, wheat and barley. In the fall of 1919 they sold out and went back to Lake Benton on the train. They lived on several different farms around Lake Benton and in 1942 sold and bought a residence northwest of the cemetery. Peter died (April 4, 1960) while living there.
