Jorgen Nielsen Hoberg was born Oct 26, 1850 in Skrydstrup, Sonderjylland (Germany until 1920), the son of Peter Jorgensen Hoberg & Anne Marie Moller. He was the third child of six born to Peter & Anne Hoberg.

They then lived in Tyler, Lincoln County, Minnesota. Margrethe died Aug. 1, 1929 in Tyler, Lincoln County, Minnesota.

In 1930, Jorgen was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Anne Marie and Chris Jensen, in Aetna Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota.
