Mildred M. Elton, 81, who was Becker County Female Senior Citizen of the Year in 1988, died Monday, July 14, 1997 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes.
The funeral was held at First Lutheran Church of Audubon, with the Rev. Galen Kuhens officiating.

Mildred Hoberg, daughter of Peter and Rosa Schultz Hoberg, was born at Dagmar, Montana, on Sept. 6, 1915, grew up and attended school at Lake Benton, MN.

She married Eddie Lee at Lake Benton on June 14, 1933.
They lived in Georgetown when first married, moved to Audubon in in 1942 and moved to Callaway in 1957. While they lived in Callaway, she worked at the Lake Park Lefse Factory and then they moved to Detroit Lakes, where she was head cook at St. Mary's Hospital for nine years and later worked as a seamstress at the L.J. Norby Co. for 10 years. Eddie Lee died Feb 18, 1971.

She and Oscar M. Elton were married at Lake Benton on Sept. 28, 1974, lived at Audubon when first married and moved to Detroit Lakes in 1990 when Mr. Elton entered the nursing home. He died April 9, 1994.

Active in community life, she belonged to Sons of Norway, a homemakers club, a garden club, was active in 4-H circles and was an officer with the Becker County Senior Citizens on Aging Council. She also worked as a seamstress out of her home.

Surviving are a son, a daughter (Glenise Yvonne), one brother, three sisters, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her first and second husbands, two sisters and four brothers.
