Services for Charlie Schwarz, 84, of Kerrville, who died Thursday at a local hospital, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev. John Platt officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
A resident of Kerrville since 1923, Mr. Schwarz was born in Fredericksburg on Aug. 25, 1894. He married Mary Lacks on July 11, 1923. She die in 1986.
Mr. Schwarz was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War I, Master Mason for 60 years in the Kerrville Lodge No. 697 A.F.&A.M. and member of the Shriners.
He was associated with the Kerrville Veterans Administration Medical Center for 39 years and before his retirement in 1963 he was chief of supply at the hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Katharine (Glen) Schultz of Bedford; a son, Col. (Ret.) Charles E. Schwarz Jr. of Harker Heights; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family of Mr. Schwarz was to receive friends at Kerrville Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Pallbearers are Mark Anderson, Matt Anthony, Chuck Schwarz, Jack Schwarz, James Schmulen and Vernon Schwarz.
