Mrs. Elise Schmulen, widow of Dr. James Schmulen Sr., died Thursday April 10,1986. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Mrs. Schmulen was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on October 5, 1896. Both of her parents were descendents of early pioneer settlers of Fredericksburg and Boerne, Texas. Her father owned a general store in Fredericksburg but, after his death, the family moved to San Antonio. She worked as a secretary for the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad until she married Dr. Schmulen a graduate of Tulane Dental College. Mrs. Schmulen is survived by: a son, James Aaron Schmulen Jr. and wife, Beth, of San Antonio; a granddaughter, Ann Elise and husband Martin Karpowicz of San Antonio; a grandson James Schmulen III and wife Vicki and their three children, Matthew, Jeff, and Mark, of Hurst, Texas; also surviving is one brother Charles Schwarz of Kerrville, Texas. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m at Porter Loring Mortuary. Graveside services Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Sunset Memorial Park, the Rev. Ernest Lantz officiating
