Mr. Rex Allen Newport age 59, of the Helenwood Community, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at U. T. Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born February 19, 1954 in Scott County, Tennessee to the Herman Newport and Minnie Griffith Newport. He was a Member of the New River Baptist Church. He was a loving Husband, Father, Papaw and Brother.

Rex is well known for his coaching skills for softball and basketball. He was a U.T. Vols fan and he loved his family and spending time as they traveled county to county to play sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Brothers: D. J. Newport and Richard Newport; Sisters: Della Joe Newport and Vickie Newport; Sister-in-law: Peggy Newport; Mother-in-law: Bertha Helen Sexton.

He is survived by loving Wife of over 42 years, Sarah Newport; (2) Sons: Andy Newport, Jody Newport and wife Ashley; (4) Daughters: Cindy Newport and Brian Bowling, Windy Summers and husband Jimmy, Darsey King, Jessica Sanders and husband Kevin; Grandchildren: Tayleigh, Wyatt, Alyssa (Izzy) Newport, Lyndsey and Bentley Summers, Jordan and Justin Sanders; Sister: Kathy Wilson; Brothers: Edison Newport, Donald Newport and wife Betty, James Newport and wife Ruby, Bobby Newport; several nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. until time of funeral services at 7:00 P.M., Monday Evening, September 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in Huntsville with Bro. Jimmy Griffith Officiating. Music will be provided by Paula Bond. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A. M., Tuesday Morning, October 1, 2013 at the Charles E. Sexton Family Cemetery in the Mt. View Community. Pallbearers will be Donald Newport, Bobby Newport, Andy Newport, Brian Bowling, Jimmy Summers, Kevin Sanders and Bethel Blevins. In Lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to: Rex Allen Newport Memorial Fund c/o Four Oaks Funeral Home P.O. Box 410 Huntsville, TN 37756 Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville is in charge of the funeral arrangements for the family of Mr. Rex Allen Newport.
