Services for John D. Wallace, 80, of 700 W. Locust St., Clearfield, who died Monday, Jan. 18, at Clearfield Hospital, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with Dr. Raymond D. Fravel officiating.
Interment will follow in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until the service on Thursday.
The family suggests contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.
Born in Medix Run, Elk County, on April 12, 1907, Mr. Wallace was a son of Dorsey S. and Clare E. (Shaw) Wallace.
He retired in 1986 as a barber in Clearfield after owning and operating his own shop for 59 years. He had also been employed by the New York Central Railroad during World War II and following the war for 15 years.
He was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was also a member of the C.I.C. class of the Sunday School.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel C. (Conrad) Wallace, whom he wed June 30, 1928; two children, John K. of DuBois and Mrs. Anthony (Shirley) Ettaro of State College; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and three
sisters, Mrs. Pearl M. Wallace of Altoona and Mrs. Delbert (Leona) Williams and R. Ruth Wallace, both of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lewis E.; two brothers, Cardwell M. and Klare S.; one sister, Mabel B. Wallace; and three infant brothers and sisters.
