Bamberg - James T. Gunnells, 78, a retired auto mechanic with Zeigler Chevrolet, died Saturday in an Orangeburg hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Cooner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bamberg County Memory Gardens. Mr. Gunnells was born in Colleton County, a son of Charles S. Gunnells and Lillie Maxey Gunnells. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of George's Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Frances White Gunnells; a daughter, Jean Myers of Bamberg; three sisters, Florine Dodd of Mount Pleasant, Sara Crook of Simpsonville and Grace Altman of Orangeburg; two brothers, G.C. Gunnells of Bamberg and David Gunnells of Blackville; four half sisters, Marjorie Murray of Boca Raton, Fla., Connie Barrios of Buffalo, N.Y., Cheryl DeBeau of Fort Erie, Ontario, and June Ragsdale of Winter Park, Calif.; two half brothers, Bobby Gunnells of Carbondale, Kan., and Jeff Gunnells of Purcellville, Va.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. © The Post and Courier, Charleston, SC, 13 Nov 1995
