Newton W. Pahlke, 93, of Crystal Lake, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at his home.
He was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Barrington, the son of William and Florence Pahlke.
He was a World War II veteran in the Navy as a machinist mate and served in the South Pacific. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Union Local 150. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Woodstock and a member of the Elk's Lodge in Des Plaines. He was an avid golfer and hunter and loved wintering in Mesa, Ariz.
He is survived by two children, Catherine Pahlke and Kent (Elizabeth) Pahlke; four grandchildren, Michelle (Dan) Robacewski, Michael Pahlke, Matthew (Kristy) Pahlke and Melissa (Steve Whittenhall) Pahlke; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Lynn and Hannah Marie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Balmes) Pahlke; a brother, Earl Pahlke; and a sister, Mabel Sanders.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at St. Pius V Shrine at 30 Miller Road, Lake Zurich. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Pius V Shrine. Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, masses would be appreciated to St. Pius V Shrine.
