Marshall, N.C. - Sovonia Tweed Cantrell, 80, native and lifelong resident of Madison County, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Mrs. Cantrell was a daughter of the late William McKinley
and Della Ray Tweed.


She was of the Church of God tradition of faith. She was the widow of Elmer Cantrell.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis William and Jean Cantrell and Raymond Bercher and
Linda Cantrell, all of Marshall, and Billy and Pearlann Cantrell of Erwin, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law: Janice Shipley Cantrell of Marshall; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four
sisters: Manilla Czerniak of Toledo, Ohio, Etta Hensley and Milure Gentry, both of Marshall, and Cleo Blake of Gastonia; a brother: Hartford Tweed of Marshall;and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Elmer Junior Cantrell and Clyde McKinley Cantrell; a sister: Inez Tweed
Franklin; and two great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at Madison Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Spillcorn Church of God with interment
in Cantrell Tweed Cemetery. The Rev. Leonard Cutshaw will officiate.
