Ellen Maria (Anderson) Fredrickson passed away on December 10, 1988 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of Andrew and Emma Anderson and was born on June 18, 1895 near Momence, Illinois in Kankakee County. Her parents, Andrew Anderson and Emma (Svenson) Anderson and sister Louise were born in Sweden. They came to America in 1893 and made their home on a farm in Illinois. In 1898 the Andersons moved to Lund Township with their children, Ellen, Louise, Alfred, Oscar and Gustaf. Later they had two other sons, Clarence and August. In 1905 the family moved to Moe Township.

Ellen was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith by Dr. O.O. Gustafson of Alexandria, Minnesota at the Trinity Church in Holmes City on September 29, 1932. She was educated in District No. 35 in Lund Township and District No. 5 in Moe Township in Douglas County. On April 26, 1919, she was married to Carl John Byron Fredrickson in the home of Mrs. Ida Davidson in Alexandria. The marriage ceremony was conducted by Reverend A.D. Stauffacher. Carl and Ellen had two children, Clifford James Byron Fredrickson, born June 21, 1921 and Erma Mae Adella (Fredrickson) Sitki, born October 31, 1924. Clifford and Carl are both living in Minneapolis. Erma is living in Riverview, Florida. Ellen and Carl had one granddaughter Lola Jean Fredrickson, the daughter of Clifford and Ardythe Fredrickson. In addition they adopted another granddaughter Diane Lentsch. Both Lola and Diane live in Minneapolis.

Carl and Ellen were blessed with nearly 70 years of married life which they spent together on their farm home near Brandon. Ellen loved cooking and baking, sewing, making quilts and other handwork, gardening and tending animals on the farm.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Louise and four brothers, Alfred, Gustof, Oscar and Clarence. She is survived by her husband, Carl; her two children, granddaughter Lola and her adopted granddaughter, Diane; brother August of Brandon.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 14, 1988, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City with Pastor Julie Lange officiating. Pallbearers were Gene Weisel, Carl Pipo, Lee Gray, James Anderson, Vilho Nissila, and Dennis Hulkonen. Interment was at the Finnish Apostolic Cemetery. Services were directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Home.
