Raymond Earl Roberts, 78, of St Lawrence, Texas, ascended from his interim to his eternal home October 11, 2013.
He was born July 13, 1935 in Tarzan, Texas, to Hayden Claude Roberts and Elizabeth (Coolbaugh) Roberts. He had four sisters and three brothers: Ethel May Roberts, Claude Hayden Roberts, Della Fay Kinard, Edith Marie Wilder, Dorothy Helen Burke, David Glenn Roberts, and John Wayne Roberts.
He married Lilly Faye Shires on September 5, 1964 in Coahoma, Texas. He worked life long as a farmer and rancher in and around Lomax, Garden City, and the St. Lawrence area.
Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, team roping, dominos and his many grandchildren.
He is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Faye Roberts; daughters: Glenda Haller, spouse David Haller; Janet Scott, spouse Jamie Scott; Ronda Roberts, Joanna Contreras; spouse Junior Contreras, and Kayla Mc Comb, spouse John McComb, Jr.; grandchildren: Kristal Ballard, Jonathan Haller, Jared Scott, Jacob Scott, Ty Roberts, Colton Roberts, Taegan Contreras, Aaron Contreras, Anastasia Contreras and Hayden McComb; great grandchildren: Darren Ballard and Connor Vogt; brothers: Claude Roberts, David Roberts, and John Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hayden Roberts, mother Lizzie Roberts, a daughter, Ramie Jo Roberts and sisters: Ethel Roberts, Della Kinard, Dorothy Burke, and Marie Wilder.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Hillcrest Baptist Church of which he was a long time member. Pastor Elwin Collum and associate pastor, Ken Thomas will officiate.
Pallbearers are his grandsons: Jonathan Haller, Ty Roberts, Jared Scott, Jacob Scott, Taegan Contreras, and Colton Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Haller, Johnny McComb, Osvaldo Contreras, Jr., Brent Butler, Wade Roberts, and Steve Cimino.
He will be laid to rest at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Texas following the memorial.
Visitation will be at Myers and Smith Funeral Home Monday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
