Reddick Eason, Sr. was the son of Will and Bettie Riddick Eason born about 1847 or 1848 in Gates County, NC. He was the husband of Mahala Ferrand/Ferrent Eason and father of Annie Eason Miller, Columbus Eason, Ruth Eason Sawyer Sharpe, Katie Eason Langston Bogan, Reddick Eason, Jr. and Charles Henry Eason. Reddick was the Fire Chief of the Rescue Squad in 1861 (as shown in his photo) for the Black Fire Dept in Norfolk County,(Portsmouth)VA. He was also a laborer and night watchman. He resided at 1338 County Street, Portsmouth, VA, and through oral family testimonies, built his house himself.
