Hadley H. Bowen, age 85 of Baring, Missouri, passed away early Thursday morning, June 2, 1994 in the Grim-Smith Hospital at Kirksville, Missouri.
The son of John Thomas and Amanda Mae Dugigns Bowen, he was born January 23, 1909 in Knox County, Missouri.
He married Malvota Dillinger in February of 1942 at Edina, Missouri and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1982.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John Junior Bowen, Asa M. Bowen and Forrest Thomas Bowen; five sisters, Virginia Kelley, Sarah Goodwin, Lillie Vanskike, Nellie Rourke and Flossie Harrison and one half-brother, Tobis T. Bowen.
He is survived by one son, Hadley H. Bowen and his wife Sandy of Canton, Illinois; one daughter, Carol Jean Anderson of Hurdland, Missouri; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bowen was a life-long resident of Knox County, Missouri except for the period of time he served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1941 through 1945.
He was awarded six Bronze Stars for French, Moroccan, Tunisian, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns.
He owned and operated a local truck hauling service in Knox County for a number of years. Mr. and Mrs. Bowen lived in Edina for several years and for the past forty-three years he resided in Baring, Missouri.
He was a member of the Baring Community Church at Baring, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (June 5, 1994) in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina, Missouri with the Reverend Archie Cooper officiating. Musical selections will be "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day At A Time." Burial will be in the "Garden Of The Cross" in Park View Memorial Gardens at Kirksville, Missouri.
Military graveside services by Knox County Memorial VFW Post #4822 and Cyril Graham American LEgion Post #261 of Edina, Missouri.
Casket bearers will be Raymond Eyler, Junior Oliver, Larry Burke, Bob Doubet, Bud Mayer and John Dailing.
