Hitt Stewart, Justice of the Peace within and for Benton Township in Adair County, Missouri, performed the ceremony. They later divorced. Next married Leo Pete VanSickle on 02 JAN 1933 in Edina, Knox County, Missouri. William A. Kelley, Judge of Probate, performed the ceremony. After Leo's death she then had a special friend, Phillip "Howard" Rourke.

Nellie Mae Rourke

Nellie Mae VanSickle Rourke, 74, of Edina, died Tuesday evening, December 15, 1981 at Grim-Smith Hospital, Kirksville. She was born August 29, 1907 in Macon County, the daughter of John Thomas and Amanda Mae Duggins Bowen. She married Leo VanSickle.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Leta May) Binkley of Baring, three brothers, Forest Bowen of LaPlata, Hadley Bowen of Baring, Asa Bowen of Kirksville; three sisters, Mrs. Monroe (Sarah) Goodwin of Edina, Mrs. Virginia Kelly of Hurdland, Mrs.Harry (Lillie) VanSickle of Queen City, Howard Rourke of Edina; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.

She had been a resident of Knox County most of her life except six years in Idaho. She was a member of the Hazel Dale [Hazel Dell] Church, west of Novelty.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 17, at 1 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel, Edina. Rev. Luke Turnbough of Edina officiated. Burial was in the Park View Memorial Gardens, Highway 6 east, Kirksville.
