William Liss Reid, Jr., husband of the late Gloria Dale Harrison Reid, went to join her in heaven on September 8, 2013. He was the father of a son, late Bill Reid, III (Marcelyn), and three daughters, the late Dinah Reid House, the late Jan Reid Mahony (Edmund) and Jeanne Strange (John). He also leaves six grand children, Bryant Leslie(Suzanne) Jeremy Reid (Chrissie) Audra McLearen (Micah), Reid Strange (Johnna McDougal), John Garrett Strange, Allie Strange and Maggie Mahony; four great-grandchildren, Whitney House, Will Leslie, Parker Reid and Harrison Reid.
Daddy grew up in Jackson, TN before moving toWhitehaven, and was a current resident of Hernando, MS. He was a WWII Veteran who served his country proudly in the Air Force, and was part of the crew that pulled gliders across the English Channel on several missions during D-Day. After coming home from the war he joined his fathers business, Success Roofing, and then he started his own company DeSoto Redi-Mix. He was a very active farmer raising crops and cattle under the name Circle R Farms.
He was a part of many businesses and organizations in the mid-south such as Mid-South Bible College, AgriCenter International and the Mid-South Fair. Other things that daddy loved to do were golfing, going to St. Louis Cardinal games and hunting with family and friends.
Daddy was a member of First Evangelical Church for 52 years. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Monday, September 9 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 10 at First Evangelical Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
