Jan Reid Mahony, 46, died March 28, 2010 at Baptist Desoto Hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31 from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Desoto Memorial Gardens. She leaves her husband, Edmond Mahony, daughter, Maggie Mahony, of Hernando, MS; her father, W.L. Reid of Hernando, MS; one sister, Jeanne Strange (John) of Hernando; one brother, Bill Reid (Marcelynn) of Coldwater, MS. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Dale Reid and sister, Dinah House. To say Jan was a devoted wife and mother would be an understatement. She enriched the lives of all she knew. Her passion and caring for people is reflected in the many meaningful friendships she made over her life. We all knew her zest for life and competitive nature. Her tennis friends especially saw her competitive spirit. It was in her battle with cancer that we saw the full depth of her character. She fought everyday with courage that few others could muster. The memory of her battle and the way she lived so vibrantly will only increase her husbands admiration and her daughers adoration. Her faith in her Savior never wavered. She gave us extra faith when we needed it. Of all who will miss her so deeply, none will feel it as much as her daughter, Maggie. Jan seemed to have been born to be a mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to Wings at West Clinic in Memphis. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home Hernando (662)429-6262
