Born in Franklin County on Oct. 20 1907, he was the son of John and Mariah Young Schlechtweg. He was married in 1931 to the Former Flora Toney, who died in January of 1959. On October 7 1960 he married the former Vina Christian Clark, who survives. He had retired after 36 years of employment at National Metals in Connersville. He was a member of the Andersonville Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, William, Arkansas; John, Rushville; Charles, Baird, New Mexico; three step-sons, Charles Clark, Connersville; Paul Clark, Rushville; Robert Clark, Columbia South Carolina; four step-daughters, Mrs. Howard (Margaret) Matney, Andersonville; Mrs. Nancy Smith, Greensburg; Mrs. Eugene (Gay) Hunter, Buena Vista; Mrs. Everett (June) Taylor, Cincinnati; one brother, Edward, Connersville; three sisters, Mrs. Lidge (Mabel) Hunter, Connersville, Mildred of Liberty; Bertha Gilbert, Connersville; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for 10 A.M. Monday at Moster and Cox Mortuary in Rushville, the Rev. Everett Quinton officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery, Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association. (original obit says they were married 2 May 1962 actual date is 7 Oct. 1960).

Glenwood- Schlechtweg - Mrs. Vina Clark of Andersonville were United in marriage last week at the Church of the Nazarene in Andersonville, and went to southern Indiana on a wedding trip. They will reside in Connersville. His son John Schlechtweg and family will move across the street into his home here.
William Schlechtweg of Glenwood, entered Fayette Memorial Hospital Tuesday and was placed under oxygen following a heart attack.
