He was a Veteran of WW II and came back what they called "shell-shocked", an absolute bundle of nerves when he got back. He was a foot soldier on the Burma Road. He didn't really have a trade when he came home. After the military, he did odd jobs.

He married Grace Hickox. They had 4 children - Glenn, Debbie, Ricky and James Randall. They divorced.

Years later, in the late 60's/early 70's, he went to Texas & Louisiana where he worked on dredge boats. He came back to Georgia a year or two later and lived with different family members until his death from cancer.
