Neil Nicholson was born 23 May 1844 in Big Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada to Norman Nicholson and Ann Nicholson of Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland. He was the first child of the couple to be born in Canada. Neil married Catherine Georgina McKay on 12 Apr 1881 in Baddeck River, Nova Scotia. The couple had no children of their own, but adopted a son named Willie S Nicholson around 1892. Neil worked as a farmer and was also an enumerator for the 1901 & 1911 Canadian censuses. Neil Nicholson passed away in 1930.
