Ewen Nicholson was born in 1847 to Norman Nicholson and Annie Nicholson of Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland. Ewen was the second child born in Nova Scotia, Canada, three older siblings having immigrated with their parents to Canada about 1842. On 28 Nov 1882 Ewen married Annie McKenzie in Sand Point Baddeck. Together they had five children, only one who remained in Nova Scotia. The family were members of the Presbyterian Church where Ewen was an elder. Ewen and Annie were married for almost 60 years. Ewen passed away on 15 Jan 1942, only 4 days after his wife. He was 95 years old.
