Mrs. Carrie Estelle Zimmerman Harris, 60, died March 16, 1967, at her home near Fairview. Born in Liberty, Bedford County, Virginia, Carrie was a daughter of John Labon Zimmerman and Virginia Lee Updike (John's 2nd wife). John and Virginia were married January 30, 1896 in Bedford County, Virginia.
Carrie was a member of Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church (Bunker Hill Community) (1565 Bunker Hill Loop, Bedford, VA 24523). She is survived by her husband, Loyd Edward Harris; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis R. Arthur of Bedford; one son, John Edward Harris of Blue Ridge; three sisters, Mrs. William Thomas Leftwich (Mary Louise Zimmerman) and Mrs. Thomas Poindexter Overstreet (Floy Kate Zimmerman), both of Bedford, and Mrs. Clarence Linwood Coleman (Bessie Evaline Zimmerman) of Madison Heights. Also three brothers, Jennings Bryan Zimmerman of Bedford, Sidney Muse Zimmerman of Roanoke, and Hubert Thomas Zimmerman of Lynchburg, and one grandson. Funeral services were conducted on March 18 from Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church (Bunker Hill Community). Burial was in Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery (1832 Mt. Olivet Road, Bedford, VA 24523).
