Melvin Kline Bash, 97, of Findlay passed away at 5:01 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at his residence. He was born on May 14, 1916 to the late David and Bessie (Murray) Bash in Arlington. On June 22, 1942, he married Dorothy L. Coats and she preceded him in death on September 11, 1994. He is survived by two sons: M. Scott (Christine) Bash of Lima and Anthony Bash; a daughter, Dianne (Alan) Kazan of Kirtland, OH; two brothers: Ralph Bash and Wayne Bash both of Findlay; six grandchildren: Christine Shinkawa, Ashley Kazan, Scott A. Bash, Stacee Johnson, Meredith Creager and Rachel Bash and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Murray, Medford, Marvin and Delmar Bash and a sister, Faye Thornton. Melvin was a graduate of Findlay High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was part of the European Theatre during WWII. He was a member of the Lima Masonic Lodge #585 and the Toledo Shriners. Melvin was a foster parent for 35 years for hundreds of children and was a recipient of the Foster Parent of the Year award for Allen County and a recipient of the Foster Parent of Ohio award. He was also an avid reader. Arrangements have been entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
