Steve passed away at age 89 in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.

He was born in Star Junction, PA., a son of Steve Nagy Ragalyi, Sr. and Ezster (nee Czik), and had lived in the area since 1926. He had worked in the coal mines in West Virginia and was a self-employed dairy farmer and carpenter in Ohio. Ezster's name has been alternately spelled as 'Esther Csik'

Steve was a member of Gustavus Federated Church and was a Gustavus Township Trustee for 20 years, and a member of the Gustavus Grange and Woodsmen of the World.

Steve's headstone identifies two females buried on each side of him. Elizabeth (nee Szabo) was his first wife, who died during childbirth. He and Elizabeth were married May 15, 1926 at Logan, West Virginia.

His second wife was Zoli (nee Balogh). They were married on April 23, 1938 at Youngstown, Ohio. Zoli was born May 18, 1908 in Hungary. Her parents were Steve Balogh and Julian Mato.

At the time of his death he was the loving husband of his third wife, Myrtle (nee Jones) Chambers. They were married November 22, 1942. She had two sons, Rolland and Robert Chambers.

He was the father of three sons, Albert of Atlanta, GA., Steve Jr., of Gustavus, and Robert of Bismark, North Dakota; two daughters, Irene Flora (Loyd) Marshall and Anne Esther (John) Wear, both of Gustavus; 25 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A son, Rolland, died in 1987; brother, Julius; and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Horvath and Mrs. Margaret Cico, are deceased.

Arrangements were by Baumgardner Funeral Home where his funeral took place on Friday, March 4th, with burial following in Gustavus Cemetery.

Special Note: I am a 'Ragalyi' and Steve is my second cousin on my dad's side. I've been working on our family tree since about 1967 and want to make sure the records are correct. I would like to make contact with other family members that I've lost touch with. Click on my name below (Ragalyi), it will take you to my email address.
