Cora Mae Ashburn was born at Gibbon, Nebraska, September 3, 1871, the fall her parents, D.P. and Emily Ashburn arrived in Gibbon with the Soldiers Free Homestead Colony. She was educated in the Gibbon schools. On March 1, 1899 she was married to Frederick C. Overton, who preceded her in death. She died June 4, 1956, with burial in Gibbon Riverside cemetery, the original land for which was given to the township of Gibbon by her father.

She is survived by a son and 4 daughters: Frederick Overton; Hastings, Nebraska; C. May Overton; Mt. Pleasant, Utah; Mrs. Laura Leonard; San Bruno, California; Mrs. Beth Fleming; Nelson, Nebraska; Mrs. Evelyn Morrow; Omaha, Nebraska

Mrs. Cora Overton passed away Monday evening. She was the mother of Mrs. George Fleming of Nelson and would have been 85 years of age in September. A former resident of Hastings, she has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Fleming for the past 22 months. Since last fall she has been quite ill.

Among her survivors are her children: Mrs. Fleming, Miss May Overton, Mt. Pleasant, Utah; Fred Overton, Hastings; Mrs. Lloyd Morrow, Omaha; Mrs. Laura Leonard, San Bruno, Calif.; and Mrs. Frances Fuller, Hawthorne, Calif.

The funeral services are to be conducted at Gibbon Friday at 2:30 p.m., with Dr. John Glassey officiating.
