Emila Amanda Brown was born at St. Albaus, Vermont, November 17, 1842. In her early childhood her parents removed to Bazetta, Trumbull County, Ohio where she resided until she came to Gibbon. She was married to Dillon P. Ashburn on August 3, 1862. In April 1871, they came to Gibbon.
She was mother to eight children, two being buried in Ohio in early infancy. She is survived by her husband and children:

Joseph N. Ashburn
Cora N. (Mrs. F.C. Overton)
Harry B. Ashburn
Albert A. Ashburn
Anna E. (Mrs. A.M. George)
Remains were laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
