Gerald F. Wallace To Retire From Penelec Position
Gerald F. Wallace, of 313 Locust Street, Clerfield district property records representative for Pennsylvania Electric Company since 1948, will retire at the end of February after 23 years of service with the local utility. He will receive a pension under Penelec's retirement plan.
Mr. Wallace began his company service as an appliance salesman in Clearfield, becoming district property records representative there in 1938. From 1943 until 1948 he held a similar position in the company's Philipsburg district. Prior to his Penelec service, Mr. Wallace was employed by the Franklin Oil Corporation in Pittsburg and by various automotive firms in Clearfield.
The retiring Penelec man is a former charter member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of Old Town Sportsman's association, Clearfield County Motor Club, Clearfield Presbyterian Church and the Executive Committee of the Clearfield Band. He was a member of the 103rd Calvary Band of the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1932 to 1941.
Mr. Wallace also is a member of Clearfield Lodge No. 314, F&AM, and various other Masonic bodies including Royal Arch Chapter No. 228 and Williamsport Consistory. He logged more than 300 hours as a member of the local Ground Observer Corps.
A native of Clearfield where he attended schools, Mr. Wallace is married to the former Lyn Gallaher of Fairport Harbor Ohio. They have two daughters, Mrs. H. L. Bumbarger of Clearfield and Mrs. A. S Kenyon of Dayton, Ohio, and one son, Gerald F. Wallace Jr., a technical illustrator for North American Aviation Corporation in Columbus, Ohio. The latter's wife is the former Ida Jean Swales of Clearfield.
