_Mr. Joseph Blackstone was found dead in his bed at his home in Shullsburg, Sunday mroning, July 27th. He and his family attended the circus Saturday evening and he seemed to be in good health and was very jovial with his friends. On hi sreturn home from the circus he took a bath and retired. Between seven and eight o'clock the next morning his daughter Eva on entering his room found him dead. Dr. C.C. Gratiot was called by telephone and decided from the apperance of the body that life was extinct for seven or eight hours, heart disease being the cause of death. The deceased was born Dec. 17, 1839 in the town of White Oak Springs. He enlisted in Co. K. 20th Reg. Wisconsin Volunteers during the War of the Rebellion and served until the close of the war.
