Ella and Austin were twins who were born and died on the same day from Cholera. Sources have indicated there is a death certificate on record at Darlington, WI. The children were identified only as "boy" and "girl" Benson.

From the Shullsburg Pick and Gad, Oct 3, 1889:

Mr. and Mrs. John Benson who reside north of Dunbarton, mourn the loss of their infant twins who died Sunday last, and were buried in Evergreen cemetery in the city on Tuesday. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends in this trial.
