Jack, as he was better known, grew to manhood in Carbon, and resided here until 21 years of age when he moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma. He had engaged in farming there, living four miles south of the town. Although still residing on the farm, had retired from active participating.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Sheridan and Sarah A. Hewitt Johnson, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Runser, Miss Lilly Sheridan, and one half brother, Will Hewitt, of Massena.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Leona Sheridan of Shawnee; a step son, Hugh Braley, Wichita, Kansas, two step daughters, Mrs. W. P. Curby Blackwell and Miss Birdie Braley, of the residence; two brothers, P. E. Sheridan, Corning, Iowa and J. Mark Sheridan of Carbon, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Ann Bennington, Nodaway, Iowa, Mrs. Amanda Jane Hunter, Carbon, Iowa, and Mrs. Celia Viola Barnett, Des Moines, Iowa.
The body was shipped to Corning and funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Carbon Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. f. G. Barnes. Interment was in the cemetery in Quincy.
