Silas Wike was the son of David and Mary M "Polly" [Diel] Weik. Born and raised in North Carolina, he married Catherine Malinda Rowe on June 20, 1850 in Lincoln County.

1850 – Lincoln: Age 24, Occupation: Millwright (Mechanical Engineer), married within the year, attended school within the year;
1860, 1870, & 1880 – Catawba: Occupation: Farmer;
1888 – Catawba: Wife, Malinda dies;
