Robert Thomas Golladay is a direct descendent [linkage provided] of Revolutionary War Corporal Joseph Golladay, and his father Lieutenant Jacob Golladay Sr.

On 13 June 2010, Golladay family historian and Revolutionary War, and Civil War re-enactor Robert Howell was the single individual responsible for organizing the dedication of two Golladay family Patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War. His direct line ancestors, Lieutenant Jacob Golladay Sr, Shenandoah Militia, and Corporal Joseph Golladay, Virginia Continental Line, were honored with US Veteran Gravestones at the Dry Run Cemetery, Fort Valley, Shenandoah County, VA, on land originally owned by Jacob Sr.

Robert Thomas Howell, 66, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Robert was born in Harrisonburg on November 10, 1946, to the late Robert Oley and Anna Lee Golladay Howell.
After graduating from EMU in 1970, Robert taught in Iowa before settling in Lynchburg. His career included retail sales and education. Working as a substitute teacher in the Lynchburg City Schools was one of his joys. He was dedicated to this work and continued even after becoming ill. He considered the teachers and administrators not only his colleagues, but his friends. Robert was a historian and avid researcher. He delighted in making history come alive for others.
He was a member of the Sons of American Revolution, a re-enactor of both Civil and Revolutionary Wars, a founding member of the 11th VA Company G re-enactment group, and a member of the 6th North Carolina Regiment, Continental Line. Robert's research on the Eighth Virginia Regiment of Foot, Continental Line was complete and ready for publication.
He had a passion for genealogy research and was studying the Golladay Family of Powell's Fort Valley of Shenandoah County. A talented craftsman, Robert made period clothing and reproduction furniture and enjoyed metal crafting. He shared this talent with others assisting them in gathering items needed to begin re-enacting.
Robert is survived by his brother, Wayne Howell and sister, Anita Louise Howell, both of Harrisonburg. Surviving, also, is his foster family: Opal Bowman, Chris Bowman (Terri), Eva Coffey (Don), Donna Gallatin (David), and long time friends Melvin and Kathy Lester. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his foster father, Harry Bowman and foster sisters, Penny Bowman and Barbara Shenk.
