Georgia Ann (Parris) Adams, 82, of Windsor Heights, Iowa, died peacefully at home on May 16, 2013. She was born on July 21, 1930, in Hutchinson, KS. Georgia was the daughter of the late George and Gladys (Snyder) Parris. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin R. Adams, her sister, Judy Larsen, and her grandson, James Christopher Adams.

Georgia attended high school in Audubon, IA. She received an academic scholarship from her home town, of which she was the first female recipient. Georgia earned a degree as a registered nurse from the University of Iowa College of Nursing. Georgia met the love of her life, Marvin, in Iowa City where he attended the University of Iowa Law School. Georgia and Marvin were married on September 1, 1951, in Iowa City.

Georgia is survived by her sons, Mark (Michelle), Chris (Martha), and George (Rachel), three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Daisy Schmidt and Joan Bingle and brother, George (Maybelle) Parris.

Georgia enjoyed a lifelong love of antiquing and was a member of the Grant Wood Chapter of Questers.

A Prayer Service will be held at 3:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, followed by visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20 at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Burial will follow mass at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
