George was baptized with his son at their home by Reverend Harvey Quandt. He attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1957. George worked construction for a short time then was employed as a painter for Cam Ross Sign Company.
On October 15, 1960, he was united in marriage to MayBelle Deist at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Three children George, Robyn, and Molly were born to this union. George continued sign painting for a short time. He became interested in auto body repair and spent the rest of his working years perfecting that art. He took a short break to work in the parts department at Countryside Motors for a few years. He finished his career doing auto body repair work until he retired due to his failing health in 2007.
George was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. He was a member of the Audubon County Conservation Club, was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, and coached little league baseball. George loved to fish, especially for bass and bow hunt for deer and hunt for pheasants. But most of all George was a family man and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
