Services were conducted in the
Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home at 10 a.m.
Tuesday for William H. Matson. 63,
of 231 Pearl St., veteran retired teacher,
who died Saturday (Nov. 15, 1969).
Burial was in Ira Union Cemetery
at 3 p.m.
Born in Ira, Oswego County, he
was a graduate of Oswego Normal
School, Class of 1927. He taught
industrial arts in Medina High
School until 1959. when he transferred
to driver training instructor.
He sponsored the MHS Rifle Club for
15 years and actively participated in
hunter and rifle safety training courses.
A member of the Medina Conservation
Club, he served as vice president
and treasurer of the Medina Teachers
Association, was active in Boy
Scouts and was a past president
of Lewiston Trail Council.
Survivors are his wife, Ethel
Palmer Matson: three sons, Lt.
Col. William Matson with the
Strategic Air Command, Omaha,
Neb., Robert of Kennedy and
John of Pontiac, Mich. ; nine
grandchildren: his mother. Mrs.
Walter (Grace I Hulett) Matson of South
Hannibal; one brother, Robert of
South Hannibal.
