Andrew was the thirty-fifth son of Heber Chase Kimball (1801-1868);LDS Apostle and counselor to Brigham Young and his mother was Ann Alice Gheen (1827-1879).
On February 2, 1882 he married Olive Woolley (1860-1906) in Salt Lake City Endowment House.
In 1884 he was called to serve as a missionary in the Indian Territory Mission and in April of 1887 was called as president of the mission serving until 1897.
In 1898 Andrew was called to re-locate to Arizona and serve as a stake president. He succeeded Christopher Layton, the first stake president of the St. Joseph Stake of Zion. Andrew presided over the stake for 26 years. The St. Joseph Stake was first headquartered in St. David and then in Safford, Arizona.
Andrew was also the father of Spencer Woolley Kimball, 12th President of the LDS Church.
After Olive's death Andrew married Josephine Cluff and after her passing he married Mary Connelly.
