L. D. S. Temple Worker Dies At Age of 80

Daniel H. Kimball, Well Known Figure in S.L., Taken by Death

Daniel H. Kimball, 80, for two decades one of the most familiar figures at the L. D. S. temple grounds here, succumbed Sunday night at his home, 128 Third Avenue.

Mr. Kimball was a temple guard and had served as a guide to countless thousands of visitors to the church properties in the heart of Salt Lake City.

Mr. Kimball was born February 8, 1856 at Salt Lake City, the son of the late Heber Chase and Ann Green Kimball. He was a brother of J. Golden Kimball, president of the L.D.S. first council of seventy.

Served on Mission Mr. Kimbail was educated in Salt Lake City schools and served a successful mission to the southern states. After finishing his education, Mr. Kimball became engaged in farming and his acres in East Mill Creek were widely known for their fruitful prouductions.

About 20 years ago Mr. Kimball retired from his farm and was employed on the temple grounds.

Countless thousands grew to know him as a cheerful and an informative guide. During the last few years he has been keeper of the temple gates.

Born in the Eighteenth Ward, Mr. Kimball grew to manhood and lived almost his entire life there, always taking an active part in that ward's activities. He never aspired to politics and he never participated in any public activity with the exception of that of his church career.

Survivors Listed
Mr. Kimball is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice B. Kimball of the family home and the following
sons and daughters: Mrs. June Done, Don Carlos, Ernest R., Louis C., Lester E., Dan H. and George
K. Kimball, all of Salt Lake City; Frank C. Kimball, Washington, D. C.,; Mrs. Kate K. Johnson, Minneapolis, Minn., and two adopted
daughters, Mrs. Daisey Forbes and Mrs. Anabell Simpson of Los Angeles, Cal.

Thirty-six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren also survive, as do the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Alice K. Smith,
Mrs. Abbie K. Burrows, Mrs. May K. Moffatt, Samuel K., J. Golden, Crozer, Albert H. and Hyrum H. Kimball.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed Sunday. They were delayed pending arrival of relatives.
